The M.A. in Arts Administration at Goucher College has a proud history of innovative approaches to arts administration as well as inventive and cutting-edge approaches to graduate education. Now, we invite you to join alumni, students, faculty, former faculty, and friends as we celebrate our 25th Anniversary, reflect on where we are now, and imagine the future of the arts and arts administration.

In recognition of this milestone, Goucher's M.A.A.A. program will host a gathering of speakers, scholars, artists, and activists to share their work and ideas about the future of the field of arts administration. We hope you are able to join us on campus this summer to be with each other and with our faculty, to share your ideas and hear new ones, and to celebrate 25 years of our program.

Major Paper Presentations
Kelley Lecture Hall

Although this is not part of the official celebration weekend, our graduating students are presenting their Major Papers on Friday morning in Kelley Lecture Hall.

We hope that you will attend if you are able to come into town early enough or are local. The presentations this year are excellent on timely and important topics and we believe you will enjoy seeing what thoughtful work our current students are doing and the big ideas we are discussing at Goucher.

Happy Hour and Celebration Dinner
Rosenberg Gallery
6:30 PM (Dinner at 7:30)

We kick off our weekend with a happy hour and celebration dinner on Friday night in Rosenberg Gallery, which is the lobby area outside Merrick Lecture Hall and Kraushaar Auditorium. You may be familiar with this space from past years' graduation ceremonies or Cabaret. Registration required.

"The Future of Arts Administration"
Continuing our Innovation - Confronting the Future

On Saturday, we will focus on the future. MAAA alumni chose 4 areas which they believe will most impact the arts and arts administration over the next 25 years:

• how we will adapt to and use changing technologies
• how climate change and environmental issues will affect our communities and arts organizations
• how we can effectively strengthen equity and inclusion and make lasting change in our organizations
• the future of philanthropy in the arts

Our speakers and presenters will guide us in thought-provoking and lively discussions. We will also have breaks in between sessions for coffee and snacks, chatting with one another, and a provided lunch.

Everyone is welcome to attend. We encourage you to invite your colleagues and fellow arts administrators. These speakers and discussion are all free of charge to anyone who wants to attend and participate (there is a small charge for lunch - see Registration form below).

Dine-Arounds in Baltimore

Saturday night, we will enjoy the great food that Baltimore restaurants have to offer in "dine-arounds." Sign up on Saturday for various foods, restaurants, hosts, and locations around Baltimore.

Time Capsule Ceremony
Goucher campus - exact location to be announced

E'Vonne Coleman, a former MAAA faculty member, will lead us in a ceremony to bury a time capsule to be dug up again in 25 years for the 50th anniversary of our MAAA program. Watch this space for specific location.

We have a special Goucher rate for the Sheraton hotel nearby and we have also secured rooms in one of the new dorms on campus. The dorm accommodations are single rooms and are where the current MAAA students stay on campus during residency.

History

Dr. Jean Wilhelm designed and founded our M.A. in Arts Administration program at Goucher College in 1998, 25 years ago. At that time, there were only a handful of graduate programs in arts administration - and those few were all campus-based. Jean wanted to be more inclusive, especially of mid-career people who couldn't very easily give up their jobs and move to be in graduate school. Early classes were held by conference call.
