Application & Admission
Applications are accepted from citizens and permanent residents of the U.S., citizens of Canada, and those with DACA status. The Goucher post-bac program is open to people who have completed a bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university and have a strong academic record but lack the majority of science courses needed for admission to medical school. We strongly recommend that applicants have experience in mathematics at least through the pre-calculus level, as well as some experience in medical settings through volunteer or other work. Applicants are evaluated based on their previous academic record, standardized test scores (SAT, ACT, or GRE), motivation, experience in medicine, and personal qualities.
Candidates are accepted on a rolling admissions basis. Beginning in mid-August, applications are processed as they are received for the next class, which begins in June. We will continue to review applications until the class is full, which typically happens in March.
As a member of the Common Application Service for post-bac programs (PostBacCAS), we require applicants to submit their materials to PostBacCAS, which will process them and send the files electronically to the post-bac programs that you designate.
To create an account with PostBacCAS, go here.
If you are a reapplicant to our program, you will have to provide a complete set of application materials to PostBacCAS since we will no longer be accepting documents directly. The one exception to this is SAT/ACT/GRE scores: because PostBacCAS does not have the functionality to receive SAT, ACT, or GRE scores, you will have to send them individually to each post-bac program that requires them. At Goucher, we will accept self-reported scores during our initial review of your application. If you are invited to interview, we recommend that you order official score reports to be sent to us because we will need those to make a final admissions decision.
Attention, prospective applicants:
We are nearing completion of our admissions process for the postbac class entering
in June 2023. PostBacCAS will be closed to new applications on Monday, March 27 at
11:59pm ET. The application cycle for the PBPM class of 2024-25 will open in mid-August
2023.
