Fresh Check Day is an uplifting mental health promotion and suicide prevention event that includes interactive expo booths, peer-to-peer messaging, support of multiple campus departments and groups, free food, entertainment, and exciting prizes and giveaways. The event aims to create an approachable and hopeful atmosphere where students are encouraged to engage in dialogue about mental health and helps to build a bridge between students and the mental health resources available on campus, in the community, and nationally. Fresh Check Day 2020

September 21st – September 25th, 2020: This year, Fresh Check Day will span the course of the week. Each day, one campus office will host a booth to highlight messaging around a theme of wellbeing and emotional health. This year’s booth lineup includes:

Monday, 9/21/20 at 2 pm: Boost

Learn how physical activity in all forms can have a positive effect on overall wellness/mental health.


Tuesday, 9/22/20 at 2 pm: Nine Out of Ten

Learn how to identify the warning signs and support students who may be having suicidal thoughts. Pledge to be aware, speak up, and reach out!

Wednesday, 9/23/20 at 4 pm: Know Your Limits

Gain awareness of alcohol (and other drug) safety and the warning signs of substance abuse and dependence.


Thursday, 9/24/20 at 2 pm: Be Yourself

Promote self-acceptance and acceptance of others for who they are and learn about risk and protective factors within the LGBTQIA+ community.


Friday, 9/25/20 at 1 pm: Mood Matters

Gain awareness, education, and learn how to decrease the stigma around anxiety and mood disorders among college students. Understand symptoms and treatment options.

National alliance on mental illness (NAMI) - #IWilllisten week

Listening can be one of the most powerful ways to support someone facing mental health challenges. I Will Listen encourages open and honest conversations about mental health. The campaign brings together college campuses, workplaces, and other communities to start conversations, learn more about mental illness, and to understand what stigma is and how to overcome it.

#IWillListen Week 2020

October 4th – October 10th, 2020: This year, the #IWillListen campaign will be fully virtual. There will be various interactive events featured that are open to students from all participating campuses, as well as some exclusive to the Goucher community. Take Care Tuesdays is a short video series offering tips for general mental health wellness. New videos will be posted every Tuesday at 12pm EST on the Gopher App and The Student Counseling Center YouTube! channel. Learn tips and tricks to navigatechallenges and manage your mental health.

Wellness Wednesdays

Wellness Wednesdays are weekly events during tailored for all areas of wellness to help you improve your overall health.  No need to sign up. Just show up.  Be present. Be yourself. Check back for times and dates for upcoming events!
