With two weeks remaining before the start of the Spring 2024 semester, we are excited to share a change in dining services based on student feedback and agreement by the Goucher Student Government Association.

On August 7, 2023, I joined the Goucher Community as the vice president for equity and inclusive excellence. I entered the community with a commitment to learn from colleagues and students about the greatness of the Goucher community and the many ways we support and commit to equity and inclusive excellence.

At this national time of Thanksgiving, we faculty and staff in the academic division are grateful for the opportunity to educate your students and for your and your students’ presence in our community. We certainly join with the messages you have received from Kent about supporting all our students in this learning environment amid the horrific violence that has been occurring beyond our campus.

Since the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, there has been an upswing in antisemitism, Islamophobia, and interpersonal biased incidents worldwide, leading to a surge in fear and anxiety in many communities. College campuses are especially vulnerable and have become flashpoints amid the war.

I understand that tomorrow (Thurs., Nov. 9, 2023) is a national day of protest in response to the current events unfolding in Israel and Palestine. We are aware that in solidarity with this protest, some of our students are planning a class walkout at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow.
