MS003 Isabella Thoburn College Collection, 1920-2005

The Isabella Thoburn College Collection, 1920-2005, consists primarily of correspondence between Goucher registrars, academic deans, and presidents and Isabella Thoburn administrators. These concern visits between the alumnae and faculty of the two colleges; issues of the school’s quarterly newsletter Chand Bagh Chronicle (originally called the Lal Bagh Chronicle), 1921-1974 (incomplete), articles and publications on the history of the school, and some photographs. MS 0004 Hans and Frances Mitchell Froelicher Papers, 1790-1994

Hans Froelicher was an Associate Professor of French Language and Literature.  Mrs. Frances Mitchell Froelicher was and Associate Professor of German Language and Literature. Papers include correspondence, photographs, teaching notes. Hans was active in founding the Park School in Baltimore. View Finding Aid.

MS 0006 Lilian Welsh Papers, 1894-1997 (1894-1938) 

Professor of Anatomy, Physiology, Hygiene, and Physical Training at Goucher College. Papers include  biographical materials, professional papers, photographs and memorabilia. View Finding Aid.

MS 0008 Dorothy Stimson Papers, 1890-1988 

Dorothy Stimson was a  Goucher College Dean (1921-1947) and Professor of History (1931-1955). Papers include biographical materials, diaries, scrapbooks, and photographs of Stimson. View Finding Aid.

MS 0011 Gairdner B. Moment papers, 1932-1990

Moment was a Goucher College professor of biology and served on the Governor’s Task Force on Nuclear Power Plants. View Finding Aid.

MS 0014 George Brendan Dowell Papers, 1930-1975

Professor of English and Dramatic Arts. Papers include scripts, programs, posters, correspondence, clippings, and other materials.

MS 0017 H.L. and Sara Haardt Mencken Collection, 1886-1956

Letters between Sara Haardt '20, English faculty, and H.L. as well as all of her published and unpublished works and other materials related to her career.

MS 0018 Eleanor Patterson Spencer Collection

Eleanor Spencer was a professor of fine arts from 1930-1962 who specialized in architecture and illuminated manuscripts. The collection documents the life and research of Eleanor Spencer.View Finding Aid.

MS 0021 Clinton Ivan Winslow Papers, 1918-1978

A Goucher professor of political science, Winslow's papers consist of a wide variety of articles, essays, correspondence, reports, letters, testimony, and telegrams documenting Winslow’s career and civic activities. 

MS 0022 C.I. Winslow Political Memorabilia Collection, 1834-1981

Buttons, pins, bumper stickers, tickets, brochures, and other objects of political memorabilia dated 1834 to 1980.

MS 0024 Brownlee Sands Corrin Collection 

Audio and video cassettes, records, books and other written media from the personal and professional collection of Brownlee Corrin, late Communications and Political Science professor at Goucher College. Corrin spent much of his adult life compiling this collection, which he used to supplement his teaching, political interest, and community involvement. These materials chronicle over two decades of American life and society through vivid examples of popular culture.  

MS 0030 Joseph Morton Papers

Correspondence, photographs, clippings, and other materials record the life and work of Joseph Morton, a professor of philosophy at Goucher College from 1963 to 2000 and peace activist.  The majority of the collection focuses on his creation of the Peace Studies Department at Goucher and Morton’s peace activism work which features extended correspondence with nonviolent resisters in prison and Death Row prisoners. MS 0037 Brooke Peirce Collection

The Brooke Peirce Collection, 1902-2003 includes a variety of materials documenting the life and research of Brooke Peirce. Peirce was a Goucher English faculty member from 1954 until his retirement in 1985. Included in his collection is information on Anne Sexton's poetry reading at Goucher. View Finding Aid.

MS 0038 Marianne Githens Collection

Marianne Githens Collection documents her time teaching at Goucher College from 1965-2014. Githens taught political science and was the co-founder of the Women's Study Program at Goucher.

MS 0047 Arlynne Stark Paper

Records and resources on dance/movement therapy from Arlynne Stark, a dance/movement therapist, past president of the American Dance Therapy Association, and the former director of Goucher College’s Dance/Movement Therapy graduate program.  The collection includes course notes and documents, research publications, video recordings, and materials from conference presentations and workshops.
