Magnuson Fund for Creative Partnerships

Established in 2017 in honor of Nancy Magnuson, College Librarian Emerita, the fund is intended to foster initiatives using library resources and services. Faculty, staff, students, and alumnae/i are eligible to apply, in collaboration with a library partner.

Here are some examples of possible projects, but your creative ideas are very welcome:

  • Exhibit production, using main collection materials or SC&A materials,
  • Digitization projects,
  • Research projects involving spaces in the library,
  • Web-based tours or marketing activities,
  • Designing course related research activities.

Applicant Requirements

  • Projects must involve the library and another part of the Goucher community.
  • Grant requests are reviewed by the Creative Partnership Grant Committee (CPGC) appointed by Janet Shope, Director of Academic Assessment.
  • Requests may be submitted at any time during the year.
  •  Awards may range in amount from $300 - $1,000.
  • Projects must be concluded within one year of their start date.

How to Apply

  • Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
  • Applicants should submit a proposal describing the project and budget.
  • Submit applications to library@goucher.edu

Past Magnuson Fund Partnerships

 

The following projects were supported by the Magnuson Fund for Creative Partnerships:

  • 2022- Partnership between the Library and the National Endowment for the Collaborative Humanities Laboratory. Purchased supplies for the Lab to support classes in exhibitions and programming.
  • 2021- Partnership between the Library and the Silber Gallery. Supported the publication of Rediscovering Goucher's Lost Museum Exhibition Catalogue. The catalog and more information about the exhibition can be viewed on Goucher College's Digital Humanities website.
