MARYLAND SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS

The Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) offers a variety of state scholarships and grants. To be considered for need-based Maryland aid, students must complete their FAFSA or MSFAA (for qualified children of undocumented immigrants who are ineligible to receive federal aid using the FAFSA) by March 1st annually and be a legal resident of Maryland.

MHEC scholarships include merit-based scholarships, need-based, career-based scholarships, legislative scholarships, and scholarships for unique populations. Most of these scholarships will have a separate application process. For the most up-to-date information on Maryland financial aid programs, visit the MHEC web page.

STATE SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS (NON-MARYLAND)

Some states provide state funding for residents who attend an out-of-state school. Students who are not Maryland residents should check with the higher education agency in their state of residence for available programs and eligibility requirements. Find your state agency here using the nasfaa.org search tool.

PRIVATE OUTSIDE SCHOLARSHIPS

Private outside scholarship come from a wide variety of sources, and some may have very specialized eligibility requirements. Outside scholarships will have a separate application process to follow from whatever organization is offering the scholarship. Please see our outside scholarships page for additional information.
