The purpose of the applied policy analysis program is to provide students with a diverse
data-analysis toolkit that can be applied to various forms of data and questions.
Specifically, students will be trained to analyze, visualize, write about, and discuss
real-world problems with a wider audience.
The overall vision of this master of arts program is that we want to train students
to be versatile in numerous forms of data-driven analysis and presentation. The goal
is to provide an environment where the skills necessary to perform a host of data
and policy analysis can be honed and then utilized in a variety of settings.

in Applied Policy Analysis features an interdisciplinary approach that sets us apart.
While other programs emphasize either data analysis or policy, our program will teach
you to complete advanced-level data collection and management and then communicate
your findings to others.
Where will this program take me?
Designed for leaders and communicators, the APA program combines courses on data management,
analysis, and visualization with policy courses on economics, human behavior, and
policy evaluation. This gives you a diverse toolkit to take your career in any direction
you want to go.

How to apply
Applications for the Fall 2025 semester are due July 25th. Applicants will be required
to submit a resume, undergraduate transcript, a letter of recommendation, and a 2-
to 3-page statement of purpose discussing your interest in the program.
