The M.A. in Applied Policy Analysis program (M.A.A.P.A.) is designed to equip students
with a broad and practical set of data analysis skills that can be used to understand
and address real-world issues across areas of expertise, industry sectors, or policy
areas. Specifically, students will be trained to analyze a wide range of data, create
clear and compelling visualizations, and effectively communicate findings to real-world
problems with a wide audience through writing and public discussion.
The Master of Arts program aims to prepare students to be adaptable and proficient
in data-driven decision-making and policy evaluation. By fostering a collaborative
and hands-on learning environment, the program helps students develop the tools and
confidence needed to analyze complex problems and apply their knowledge and insights
in professional, academic, and public settings.
What sets us apart?
Rooted in a commitment to equity and evidence-based decision-making, Goucher’s M.A.
in Applied Policy Analysis brings together the tools of data analysis and the principles
of public policy to address pressing social issues. What sets our program apart is
its interdisciplinary and justice-oriented approach: rather than focusing solely on
data or policy, we equip students with the skills to collect and manage complex data
and, just as importantly, to understand and communicate those findings clearly and
ethically to diverse audiences.
By bridging the gap between technical expertise and understanding its impact, the
program empowers students to use data not just to understand the world but to help
change it by advancing social justice through informed, inclusive policy solutions.
Where will this program take me?
