In October, President José Bowen announced to the Board of Trustees that he will step down as president of Goucher College on June 30, 2019. After two decades in higher education administration, including five years at Goucher, President Bowen plans to return to his passions for music, research, writing, and teaching.
A search committee has been formed and is interviewing search firms and determining next steps in the process. Please continue to check this website for updates regarding Goucher's presidential search.
Message from Ruth Shapiro Lenrow ’74, Chair, Board of Trustees:
Dear Goucher Community,
Thank you for your patience as we have worked diligently over the past month to organize and plan the next steps for Goucher. A Presidential Search Committee has been formed, and I’m pleased to report that the committee will be led by past board chair and current trustee Miriam Katowitz ’73 and current trustee Lisa Stromberg ’83.
The committee comprises faculty, staff, students, alumnae/i, and trustees, and I am grateful to these incredibly dedicated community members for sharing their time and insight. We feel confident that the committee will embody a wide array of viewpoints and perspectives as we search to find the next leader of Goucher College. This webpage has been set up to provide ongoing updates about the search process, and you can find the full Presidential Search Committee list here as well.
Now that the committee selection process has concluded, we will begin to interview search firms and determine a more definitive timeline for the search. We plan to have another update to share with you before the upcoming winter break.
Thank you again for your patience throughout this time of transition. I look forward to sharing more with you in the coming weeks.
Ruth Shapiro Lenrow ’74
Chair, Board of Trustees
