Goucher College announces new athletic director

oversee the Gopher’s 21 intercollegiate sports teams. As members of the NCAA Division III Landmark Conference, Goucher student athletes
routinely earn prestigious awards for their combined athletic and academic achievements.
Johnson will officially join the Goucher community on June 2, 2025.
Johnson currently serves as the associate director of athletics for compliance and Title IX, senior woman administrator, and interim head women’s volleyball coach at Susquehanna University. At Susquehanna, she successfully oversaw athletic operations, supervised coaches and staff, coordinated events, led departmental budgeting, and supported student athletes on and off the playing surface. She also developed departmental policies and procedures, implemented programs designed to promote student athlete development, fostered a culture of inclusivity, and ensured compliance with institutional, conference, and NCAA policies.
“Stephanie’s care for colleagues and students, passion for athletics, and thirst for excellence was evident,” said Aarika Camp, vice president of student affairs at Goucher College. “She brings to Goucher a collaborative management approach, effective communication skills, a focus on fundraising and sponsorships, and a deep commitment to fostering student athlete development. We are excited to welcome her to our community.”
Johnson previously served as the assistant athletic director and senior woman administrator at Brevard College in Brevard, North Carolina, where she created and coordinated a leadership development program for the Brevard SAAC and was responsible for game day event management and operations, facility management, and handling sport oversight of six intercollegiate teams. She was also the assistant director of athletics at Delaware Valley University.
"Goucher is a special place; not only do my goals and values align with the college but I also deeply appreciate the spirit and growth mindset that infuses the campus,” said Johnson. “As the next athletic director, I’m excited to bring my energy and enthusiasm to the athletic department and help strengthen an environment where coaches, staff, and athletes can truly thrive."
Johnson is a graduate of Coppin State University, where she earned a bachelor of science in sport management. At Coppin State, she played NCAA Division I volleyball while also coaching high school volleyball in the Baltimore area. She also holds a master of science in sport commerce from the University of Memphis.
She is a member of the Women Leaders in Sports, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), the Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), and the National Association of Division III Athletic Administrators. Johnson is a native of Memphis, Tennessee, where she was previously the head volleyball coach for three local high schools.
Goucher College student athletes excel in class and on the playing field, competing in 21 NCAA Division III sports and a nationally ranked equestrian team. Goucher is home to intercollegiate teams in cross country, track and field, field hockey, volleyball, soccer, tennis, swimming, basketball, golf, and lacrosse.
