Disabled Students/Students with Disabilities

Goucher recognizes that no two students are alike, every student possess different skills, abilities, lived experience, and potential. We offer a multitude of accommodation and support services to ensure equal access to educational programs and campus activities for all students of varying physical and neurodiversity.

Academic Accommodations & Support

The Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) works with faculty, staff and students to provide appropriate accommodations so that students have an equal opportunity to participate inside the classroom and in college programs and activities. If you have questions about the accommodation process, please send them to access@goucher.edu

The college provides additional academic support services for all students through the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) and the student-staffed Writing Center.

Community & Holistic Support

The Center for Race, Equity, and Identity believe that supporting disabled students/students with disabilities* goes beyond merely providing academic accommodations, but as well we strive to provide programming and affinity spaces for students to explore and express their identity, culture, history, and community in relation to their disability.

*We acknowledge that those within the community may relate and identify with identity-first language (disabled) and/or person-first language (people with disabilities). We will continue to review our terminology to best accurately represent and affirm the communities that we serve.
