FSU recognizes Former Graduate School Dean Nancy Marcus '72 with Stained Glass Window
On Thursday, March 23, Florida State University celebrated a newly built stained glass window in commemoration of the former Dean of FSU Graduate School, Nancy Marcus, who passed away in Feb. of 2018. This window can be found in the Heritage Museum, located in Dodd Hall.
The window features a student during a “hooding ceremony,” which is one of the most crucial parts of the graduate school graduation. During a hooding ceremony, a member of the faculty puts a hood over the new graduate, symbolizing scholarly and personal achievements during the program’s process.
This scene was chosen for displayal in the window because it exemplifies Dean Marcus’ significant role in graduate success, and highlights the importance of graduate education.
