Goucher College is proud to announce that Michele Y. Ewing will be the college’s new vice president for advancement. Ewing will lead all development, fundraising, and alumnae/i functions of the college, including completion of the [UNDAUNTED] capital campaign and expanding efforts to secure funding from foundations, governmental agencies, and the corporate sector to better support faculty and students.

“Michele joins us at a time of great uncertainty in higher education and the world at large due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, so her skills and years of experience will serve us well during these especially turbulent times,” said Kent Devereaux, Goucher College president. “I am confident that her vast higher education leadership and fundraising experience will be an incredible asset for our college.”

Ewing joins the college with more than 20 years of fundraising, strategic planning, and constituent engagement experience in higher education. As the associate dean of development and external relations at Johns Hopkins University, Ewing led the Johns Hopkins School of Education’s $55 million portion of the university’s capital campaign. During her tenure, she oversaw individual and foundation fundraising, created a formalized fundraising program, increased support by tenfold annually, and diversified leadership giving.

Before joining Johns Hopkins, Ewing served as an executive director of development at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy and as director of external affairs and alumni relations at the University of Baltimore School of Law. She developed her fundraising expertise at her alma mater, University of Maryland, College Park, where she worked as the associate director of corporate relations for the university, in addition to other positions.

“I have a deep appreciation for Goucher’s history and am looking forward to being part of the future of an organization where every person I met stated, ‘Goucher is a special place,’” said Ewing. “This is an exciting and compelling opportunity to engage with a passionate alumni base, and faculty, staff, students, and leadership who are deeply committed to preserving the unique and celebrated qualities of Goucher.”

Ewing will officially begin her role as vice president for advancement on June 1, 2020.
