Notable African American Women

Jewell Robinson

"Looking Back: an interview with Jewell Robinson," (photo left) highlights our new exhibit honoring notable African American women.  The exhibit, found in the glass case on the right as you enter the library, features not only well-known women, but also those whose names may not be so familiar.  For example, Josephine Baker's career as a dancer in Paris has become celebrated, but how many know the accomplishments of dancer Judith Jamison? Artists Sister Gertrude Morgan and Elizabeth Catlett? You'll find the stories of many  surprising and inspiring women in our collection. Make it a point to take a look!
