Day of the Dead Exhibit & Mask Decorating

day of the dead skullNeed a study break? Come to the Library on Friday, November 1 between and 2-4pm to learn about the Day of the Dead with our new exhibit (located on library stack level 3 near the oversize materials) and to help decorate a mask. "The Mexican holiday El Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is an opportunity for Mexicans to remember and pay tribute to their deceased loved ones. Celebrated between October 31st and November 2nd, this holiday is similar to the American celebration of Halloween, with its themes of death and the spirit world. However, unlike the modern-day interpretation of Halloween, El Día de los Muertos is neither morbid nor gloomy. It is a festive remembrance of those who have departed." http://www.holidays.net/dayofthedead/story.htm

Help the library celebrate this cultural tradition by decorating a mask!
