Maryland Library Association Meets at Goucher

ARLD Archives

The Julia Rogers Library hosted members of the Academic and Research Libraries Division of the Maryland Library Association on Friday, September 21. The topic of the workshop was the use of archives and primary resources in library instruction. Goucher presenters were Gail McCormick, Special Collections Librarian, and James Huff, Instruction Librarian.

The program explored the use of primary sources as an essential educational experience for all undergraduates, rather than a learning luxury only for advanced students. It emphasized the ways in which instruction librarians, special collections librarians and archivists can work together to engage undergraduates in learning with primary sources. Librarians also learned how to incorporate primary sources as part of basic research instruction.
