Goucher Psychology at the 2023 EPA Conference

  • Dr. Thomas Ghirardelli, along with Mariah Lees (’23), Josh Lichti (’23), Areana Padilla (’22), and Claudine Schwartz (’23) presented a poster entitled, “Efficiency of Search in Three Different Three-Dimensional Search Tasks.”

  • Dr. Gillian Starkey, along with Josephine Ades (’23), Jessica DeKoven (’23), Jaelen Gabriel (’24), Devin Harris (’23), Rhyan Orenstein (’23), and Leeza Zavelsky (’24) presented a poster entitled, “Relationships Between ERP Markers of Semantic Numerical Knowledge and Enumeration Ability.”

  • Dr. Jennifer McCabe, along with Mikaela Bichler (’22), Vanessa Cisse (’24), Jessica DeKoven (’23), Sierra Hausthor (’22), Mariah Lees (’23), Belle St. Jean (’23), Alexander Steitz (’22), Molly Stuart (’22), and Emily Waskow (’22) presented a poster entitled, “Getting Warmer: Syllabus Tone Impacts Student Perceptions of a College Course.”

  • Dr. Jennifer McCabe, along with Mikaela Bichler (’22), Vanessa Cisse (’24), Jessica DeKoven (’23), Sierra Hausthor (’22), Mariah Lees (’23), Belle St. Jean (’23), Alexander Steitz (’22), Molly Stuart (’22), and Emily Waskow (’22) presented a poster entitled, “Getting Warmer: Syllabus Tone Impacts Student Perceptions of a College Course.”

  • Dr. Katherine Choe’s research team presented two posters during the conference, both co-authored by Gwyneth Philbin (’23), Suzannah Block (’23), Aviva Datlof (’24), Brendan Robinson (’23), and Danielle Williams (’23). The first was entitled, “Children’s Concept of Conflicting Judgments in Ambiguous Moral Situations.” The second was, “The Effect of Task Difficulty on Children’s Sense of Agency.”

  • Dr. Brian Patrick, along with Rebecca Aydelotte (’22), Leah Barondes (’24), Charlie Collins (’23), Ty’Aira Johnson (’23), and Avery McEchern (’24), presented their poster, “Having Autonomy and Your Relationship, Too: Categorizing Adaptive and Maladaptive Conflict Responses.”

On March 2 - 4, 2023, a contingent of 5 faculty, 18 students, and 3 alums traveled to Boston, Massachusetts to attend and present original research at the Eastern Psychological Association (EPA) Conference. These presentations were a culmination of collaborative research conducted in the Mentored Research Team and Advanced Mentored Research Team classes.
