Volunteer for GPEP

The Goucher Prison Education Partnership is made up of partners. We welcome you to join us as a partner in this important work!

What do GPEP volunteers do?

  • Tutor in the prisons. We have had tutors help with critical reading and writing, math, art, Spanish, science, and more.
  • Serve as research assistants for GPEP faculty. Volunteer research assistants work one-on-one with professors to bridge the gap between resources available in the library on the main campus and students in the prisons.
  • Facilitate regular communication from students to the college. Hotline Operators answer calls from students during set hours each week, serving as a relay system between students and faculty and staff.
  • Provide administrative support in GPEP’s office on Goucher College’s Towson campus. This can include organizing materials for a class, preparing letters for mailing, coordinating data in an Excel file, and more.
  • Help former students who have come home with their college application process.
