Program Goals

1. Use French, German, Russian, Italian, or Arabic to read, write, understand, analyze, and discuss a wide range of cultural, visual, and literary, and social science texts.
2. Understand, speak, read, and write, and identify different registers of spoken and written French, German, Russian, Italian, or Arabic.
3. Identify themes and genres of classic and contemporary French, German, Russian, Italian, or Arabic-language literature and film.
4. Identify the codes of contemporary French, German, Russian, Italian, or Arabic-speaking cultures, and the origins and organization of contemporary Russian, German, Francophone, Italian, or Arabic-speaking societies.
