Landmark Conference Update

Dear Goucher Community,

In consultation with the eight Presidents of the Landmark Conference, the intercollegiate athletic conference of which Goucher College is a member, all scheduled Landmark competitions from Saturday, March 14 through Sunday, April 5 have now been postponed.

As a result of the Landmark Conference announcement and in order to help slow the spread of the coronavirus/COVID-19, Goucher student-athletes who are able to are now asked to leave campus for the entire two weeks from March 14 until March 29.

Residential students should leave campus and return to their permanent home, when possible, for the week of Spring Break and the following week (March 22-29), unless their home is located in an area currently known to have a high number of COVID-19 cases (California, New York, and Washington state).

Residential students may request to remain on campus from March 14-29 through this link,
and explain the circumstances which prohibit them from returning home. The deadline for registering is tonight (Thursday) at 11:59 p.m.

As a reminder, those students most likely to be approved to remain on campus are those whose permanent residence is outside the U.S. and students with extreme circumstances that prohibit them from returning home.

From March 14 through March 29, the SRC will be completely closed. All Goucher athletic practices, training sessions, and games are canceled during this time. Athletics is currently slated to resume operations on March 29.

At Goucher, the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff continues to be our top priority. Although we do NOT have any known cases of COVID-19 on campus, we are acting proactively to ensure the health of our entire community.

This is an extremely fluid situation and will be reevaluated, pending updates from public health officials. We will continue to provide regular updates and appreciate your understanding during this time.

Sincerely,

Kent Deveraux, President
