Held nationwide at over 160 partner colleges and universities, AP Summer Institutes offer the most thorough professional learning available for AP educators. Attendees engage in over 30 hours of content-rich training designed to strengthen how they teach their AP courses.

Goucher is offering both in-person and virtual experiences during our upcoming Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI). Teachers can earn graduate credit in a variety of AP subject area offerings or attend AP Capstone training for educators from approved schools and classes are expected to fill up early.

“We are proud be a host site for the AP Summer Institute because it arms AP educators with the latest tools and strategies to take back to their learning communities,” said Shelley Johnson, director of Goucher's AP Summer Institute. “The global institutional network is also a remarkable resource for developing relationships and best practices.”

For over 30 years, the AP Summer Institute has provided dedicated AP teachers with intense training and educational collaboration,” said Trevor Packer, Head of the AP Program. “APSI helps to ensure that students will receive the challenging instruction they need to prepare for college success.”

Research shows that AP students are better prepared for college. They are more likely to enroll in college, stay in college, do well in their classes, and graduate on time in four years. Following challenging coursework, success on AP Exams helps students save money on college tuition and potentially graduate with less student debt over the course of their education.

In response to the ongoing pandemic, Goucher is pleased to offer both in-person and virtual experiences this summer. Students health and safety is the college's top concern and, as such, the college has tried to give on-campus priority to courses that benefit most from in-person instruction, such as lab-based and arts courses. Goucher's AP Capstone opportunities will all be in-person.
