M.A.H.P. student to be featured in MPT documentary

M.A.H.P student Darius Johnson will be featured on Maryland Public Television's documentary Kent County’s Storied Landscape: Place — Past and Present, airing 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18.
Kent County’s Storied Landscape airs as part of MPT’s Chesapeake Bay Week, and it is one of more than 30 documentaries highlighting the beauty, importance, and fragility of the nation’s largest estuary, according to a news release. Chesapeake Bay Week, now in its 19th year, runs April 16 through 22.
“Walk the coastline where Native Americans lived, uncover evidence of a centuries old oyster roast, find out what a new map of the region has revealed and join the search for African American heritage in this exploration of Kent County’s unique landscape,” the description of Kent County’s Storied Landscape reads in the news release.
Prior to its airing on MPT, Johnson took part in a documentary premiere at the Garfield Center for the Arts in Chestertown on Friday, March 13.
Kent County’s Storied Landscape is one of 11 new programs in this year’s MPT lineup. MPT’s Chesapeake Bay Week will offer more than 22 hours of content focusing on the Chesapeake Bay’s history, heritage, and resources as well as efforts to protect its diverse ecosystem.
The documentary featuring Johnson can be streamed on the MPT website following its television premiere.
