Max Spitzer is a sculptor and educator, whose work asks tactile materials to collude with linguistic communication. He earned his M.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA in 2021 and his B.F.A. in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI in 2012. His background as an educator ranges from 5 years of teaching k-12th grade at Berkshire Country Day School and the Environmental Charter School, serving as the education program manager at Omi International Art Center, and leading independently organized workshops such as ‘How to Critique Towards Love’ at the School of the Alternative in Black Mountain, NC. He has participated in residencies and exhibited his work at such institutions as the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, the Vermont Studio Center.
