Physical Campus Closed: Monday, January 26, 2026

Dear Goucher Community,

An impactful winter storm is forecast to arrive Saturday night and continue through Sunday, with potentially significant snowfall expected, followed by sleet and potential freezing rain. Travel conditions on Sunday and Monday morning are forecasted to be severely impacted. Please exercise good judgment when making your travel plans. Due to the winter storm, Goucher College’s campus will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026, to all except for residents and essential employees.

Classes & Events

All face-to-face classes (day and evening, undergraduate and graduate) held on campus at Goucher, and all events are canceled unless specified, including all organized athletic practices, meetings, and competitive events. Online and hybrid courses with scheduled virtual meetings will proceed as normal unless otherwise specified by the professor. Professors who teach Monday in-person classes will contact their students with specific instructions on how the initial content will be covered to best start the course, inclusive of all students considering potential travel and power challenges.

Administrative Offices

Administrative offices will be closed with only essential employees reporting as required. Managers will notify employees who are designated as essential. All other administrative staff and faculty should work from home. Staff who are unable to work remotely should contact their supervisor.

Campus Services

Campus Safety, Facility Management Services (FMS), dining and residential life staff remain operational. We are deeply grateful for the essential staff who will continue to report to work within these departments as directed by their supervisor. FMS will treat sidewalks and roadways, monitor campus conditions, and provide updates as necessary. For any facilities-related issues, please contact Facilities Management at (410) 337-6166.

The library will be closed.

Safety Precautions

Employees and students who may be on campus should exercise particular caution, as surfaces may be slippery. Please contact Campus Safety at (410) 337-6111 for any immediate urgent safety concerns.

Please check your email and the weather webpage for updates. If the need should arise, emergency notifications will be sent through the e2Campus Notification System.

Please prioritize your safety.

Stay safe,

Brian Hutzley
