Associate Vice President for Marketing and Communications
Stephanie Coldren joined the Goucher community in 2016 and is the associate vice president for marketing and communications. Previously, she served as the director of communications for Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school in Baltimore, for eight years. During her tenure, she developed and led campaigns for both admissions and advancement. She also has more than 16 years of experience in advertising, fundraising, marketing, and public relations. Stephanie holds a B.A. in public relations from West Virginia Wesleyan College and a master of science degree in marketing from the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business.
Social Media and Marketing Manager
Ryan Ballman joined Goucher’s Office of Communications department in 2015. Previously, Ryan has worked in marketing as a technical writer, digital media strategist and social media consultant in government and small business settings. He earned a bachelor of arts in mass communication at Wright State University.
Carol Crouse joined Goucher's Office of Communications as Administrative Assistant in March of 2004. Carol's previous experience includes eight years as executive assistant to the president of Upper Chesapeake and Harford Memorial Hospitals. Carol is a member and the webmaster of the Wheels That Heal Car Club, a charitable non-profit classic car club. She loves working with the creative people in the Office of Communications.
Director of Media Relations
Tara de Souza
Tara de Souza is the Director of Media Relations for Goucher College and joined the Office of Communications in 2016. She has spent more than a decade working in media relations with a range of lifestyle, civic relations and nonprofit clients. Most recently, she has provided strategic communications counsel to an array of world-class brands, as well as select educational organizations. Tara is a proud Goucher alumna and earned a B.A. here in English and Communication and Media Studies.
Molly Englund has worked in the Office of Communications since 2016. She previously worked as a freelance editor and as the communications coordinator for an environmental group in Baltimore. She holds a master of fine arts in creative writing from Hunter College.
Graphic Designer/Video Specialist
Robert Ferrell is a graphic designer, video specialist, and the staff photographer for the Office of Communications at Goucher College. Previously, Rob spent two years in Germany producing short documentary films and product photography for the Department of Defense. Rob holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design from the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Director of Marketing Communications
Luke Gibson joined the Office of Communications in March of 2017. Luke comes to Goucher with more than a decade of experience in higher education with an emphasis on marketing strategy. Previously, Luke has worked at Boston University’s Law School as their marketing and brand manager and BU’s College of Communication as their manager of student services. Most recently, he was the senior marketing specialist for the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law. Luke earned his Bachelor of Science in Communication, cum laude, from Boston University.
Chris Landers is the managing editor of Goucher Magazine. He has worked as an editor at BoatU.S. Magazine, a staff writer at the Baltimore City Paper, and taught writing at the Community College of Baltimore County. His writing has appeared in the Christian Science Monitor, Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Magazine, National Geographic News, and other publications. He received the A.D. Emmart award for Maryland writing in the humanities, a Folio Magazine "Eddie" Award, and a "Best of Baltimore" award from Baltimore Magazine. He earned a B.A. from St. John's College in Annapolis and a master of journalism degree from the University of Maryland.
Director of Marketing
Kathy (Vitale) Michel joined the Goucher College community in 2014. She is an Emmy-award winning journalist and has worked for several news and feature outlets: ABC News' "Good Morning America" and "World News Tonight with David Muir", Baltimore magazine, CNN Travel, Maria Shriver: Architect of Change, and KUSA/9News in Denver. She also serves on the young professionals board for The First Tee of Greater Baltimore and on the board for the G.L. Vitale Family Foundation. Sarah Palmer joined the Office of Communications in August 2016 as a graphic/web designer. She creates a variety of print and web materials for the Goucher Community. Previously, she worked as a graphic designer for the University of Maryland. Sarah earned a B.A. in studio art with a concentration in graphic design from the University of Maryland.
As Goucher College's Webmaster, John Perrelli manages the college's web presence and coordinates web development efforts in support of administrative and academic departments. He is available as a consultant and to assist students, faculty, staff and alumnae/i with their Web development initiatives.
