Wellness Across the Life Span:
How SWEET It Is!
Our bodies are made to move, and physical activity has numerous impacts on overall health and well-being. This program explores the benefits of exercise on physical and emotional well-being throughout the life span, and will provide suggestions for becoming more active in daily life. There will also be an introduction to Goucher’s new SWEET Initiative (Sleep, Water, Exercise, Eat, Time), and how these elements are being incorporated into campus life in order to increase focus, balance, and well-being.
Participants will learn:
- Physical benefits of exercise on the body and brain
- Emotional benefits of exercise
- Strategies for incorporating exercise at all stages of life
- PowerPoint presentation followed by discussion
- Exploring and practicing movement through various modes of exercise formats

About The Presenter
Jean Perez is the Director of Student Wellness at Goucher College and is a certified athletic trainer. She was an athletic trainer at Goucher for 11 years before transitioning into this new role in 2018. She has a bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from James Madison University and a master’s in Athletic Training from West Virginia University.
