With more than 40 years of experience educating and advising students, Goucher is proud to be recognized as one of the oldest and best post-bac programs in the country. Built upon a tradition of rigorous science coursework and personalized, supportive advising, our post-bacs enter the application cycle well-prepared and ready to apply to medical schools.

Program Highlights

Supportive, rigorous, and challenging, the Goucher Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program provides excellent preparation for those dedicated to changing their lives—and touching the lives of others—by pursuing a career in medicine. Highlights of our program include:

• 1-year program for career changers who need the pre-med classes required for medical school admissions
• Classes taken with the cohort, not with undergraduates
• Close, personal attention and guidance from professors, tutors, and advisors
• MCAT review built into weekly schedule
• Volunteering built into weekly schedule

• 32 students per class

Mission Statement

The Goucher College Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program educates and advises post-baccalaureate career changing individuals as they fulfill medical school prerequisites, explore the medical profession, and navigate the medical school application process.

Goals to meeting the program’s mission:

• Recruit and accept applicants from diverse personal and professional backgrounds.
• Offer comprehensive coursework and labs that fulfill requirements for allopathic and osteopathic medical schools.
• Provide personalized advising to guide students throughout the medical school application process.
• Facilitate workshops and programs to support growth and development outside of the classroom.
• Create opportunities for experiential learning through clinical volunteering.
• Foster a collaborative learning environment that is supported by attentive faculty and staff.

Admissions Criteria

• No (or few) pre-med science coursework
• Evidence of strong academic success
• Track record of community service
• Evidence of exploring the field of medicine
• Ability to articulate why you are pursuing medicine
