How to Apply

Applications for Graduate Programs in Education are reviewed on a rolling basis as they are received. Rolling Admissions allows prospective students the opportunity to submit all application materials up until the registration deadline.

Acceptance to the program will be based on an evaluation of the applicant's work and experience, essay, recommendation forms and transcripts. To be considered for admissions, an applicant must complete the steps detailed below for each program, through our graduate admissions portal.

  • Send a minimum of two letters of recommendation completed by people who know you well enough to give an informed opinion of your intellectual ability, capacity for sustained self-directed study, personal qualifications, and professional potential. The recommendation process is completed online through the graduate admission portal.
  • PRAXIS Core scores as defined by MSDE. Please note, if you have not taken the PRAXIS core exam, you have the option of being provisionally admitted under the assumption that you will take the PRAXIS core exam within the first year of enrollment into the program.
    • Applicants who have not taken the PRAXIS Core may submit one of the following: SAT scores of 1100 or better from 1995 to present; a combined score of 1000 prior to 1994; ACT score of 24; GRE composite of 1000
  • International students must also follow the international student admissions processes.

Essay Requirements


Please write a two to three page double-spaced essay discussing one of the following:

  1. What are your professional goals, and how will this program help you achieve them?
  2. Write a brief autobiography highlighting the experiences that have been important in shaping your goals.
  3. What do you think is the most significant problem in education today? How would you recommend alleviating this problem?
