Goucher Psychology at the 2022 EPA Conference

Four Goucher psychology faculty members and 18 students attended and presented research at the 2022 Eastern Psychological Association (EPA) Conference in New York City, March 3 through 5. 

Congratulations to all the presenters!

  • Dr. Katherine Choe and students Emily Waskow ’22, Charlotte Birnbaum ’22, Nadira Gondal ’22, Gwyneth Philbin ’23, Halley Price ’22, Brendan Robinson ’23, Emma Sarr ’22, and Danielle Williams ’22 presented two posters: “The Effect of Task Difficulty on Children’s Sense of Agency” and “Children’s Concept of Conflicting Judgments and Fairness in Ambiguous Moral Situation.”

  • Dr. Jennifer McCabe, along with students Sierra Hausthor ’22, Layla Murray ’22, and Emily Waskow ’22, presented the poster “Math Mindset and Math Anxiety: Understanding Achievement in Data Analytics Courses,” which was also co-authored by Dr. Dara Friedman-Wheeler. 

  • In addition, Dr. McCabe co-authored a poster with alum Audrey Wenzel ’21, Ceili Banasik ’22, Morgan Jackson ’22, Emily Postlethwait ’22, and Alexander Steitz ’22, titled “Cognitive Load in a Zoom World: Student and Instructor Perceptions.” 

  • Dr. Brian Patrick along with students Andre Bisimwa ’22, Derrick Burnette ’22, Chloe Mickelson ’22, Hannah Washburn ’22, Alejandro Fernandez y Mora ’22, and Kayla Binns ’22 presented the poster “Development of a New Framework for Identifying Interdependence Dilemma Resolution Strategies.” 

  • Dr. Thomas Ghirardelli and students Christine Nguyen ’22, Olivia Roy ’22, Emily Ross ’22, Josh Lichti ’22, and Claudine Schwartz ’23 presented the research poster “Saliency Determines Efficiency of Search in a Three-Dimensional Search Task.” 

  • Dr. Ghirardelli also chaired a session on “Getting the Most From Your Conference Attendance” and participated as a discussant in the “Teaching of Psychology Roundtable Discussion: Experiential Learning as Part of the Curriculum.”
