Jazmine Contreras is Assistant Professor of Practice in European History at Goucher College. She completed her doctorate in Modern Dutch and European History at University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Her research examines the development of contemporary Holocaust and World War II memorial culture in the Netherlands within the larger framework of European and international Holocaust initiatives. Her project uses the Dutch case to understand the relationship between national identity, cosmopolitan memory of the Holocaust, and the foundational myths of the European Union. Prior to arriving at Goucher, she held a research fellowship at the German Historical Institute in Amsterdam. Her teaching interests include 20th century Europe, Holocaust and genocide studies, gender and sexuality, and modern global history.
