Survivor Listening

survivor.listening@goucher.edu

Available Monday-Thursday, 5-7 PM In Welsh 338

We are Goucher graduate students who have been trained in trauma-informed listening. We are available to talk in-person about uncomfortable or traumatic sexual and romantic experiences. We are just here to listen, although we can also talk through options if you are interested in discussing next steps. We started Survivor Listening in response to Goucher student requests for a service to help navigate issues of sexual and romantic trauma without involving the Office of Title IX.

  • No appointments needed, but you can arrange a talk or meet outside normal hours by email to survivor.listening@goucher.edu.

  • We offer open and confidential conversation, and help in providing additional resources that may be helpful for your situation at your request.

  • We are not here to tell you what to do, we are here to talk to you, and let you guide the conversation.

  • We are not the Counseling office or involved with Title IX, we are independently run by graduate students.

  • Our conversations will not be reported to any other campus authorities, unless we receive information that some is intending immediate harm to themselves or others ( which we are legally required to report to Public Safety). We are NOT mandated reporters for Title IX; we only share non-identifying information for the purposes of Clery crime statistics.

  • We are Graduate students (pre-medical post-baccalaureate students), rather than undergraduate students.
