Residential Students:
Your Housing Deposit is due to SAS by April 1st, 2012.
Room draw is almost upon us. Your lottery numbers are being generated and will be e-mailed to students on April 6, 2012.
Housing and Tuition Deposits are due to SAS by April 1st, 2012. The total deposit due is $600.00. The Housing deposit is $100.00, and the tuition deposit is $500.00.
Things to Keep in Mind for Room Draw
You must be registered for a full-time academic load (a minimum of 12 credits) for Fall 2012 to hold their room assignment through the summer.
You will choose a room according to your class standing and the random lottery number that appears on your room draw sheet that will be sent to you via e-mail on April 6, 2012.
Only students who have paid both room and enrollment deposits may choose a room.
To choose a room, you or your documented proxy must appear at room draw at the time appropriate for selection. Students who do not choose a room during room draw as scheduled will be assigned a space during the summer, on a space-available basis, after new students have been assigned.
You should report to the Heubeck lounge on the day and time noted on your room draw sheet. Groups of students are called in numerical order to proceed to an area to check posted building floor plans that will indicate room availability. In numerical order, individuals then choose a room in the assignment area.
History has shown that competition for singles is strong. We strongly suggest that you come to room draw prepared to draw into a multiple-occupancy room.
You should come to room draw with several preferences in mind.
You may draw into a double vacancy room if both roommates are present or one has a properly completed proxy form on file. If a single is not available, a student without a roommate preference must select a double room that has one remaining vacancy. If a student is drawing into a suite or apartment, he/she can participate in room draw with the roommate with the lowest lottery number.
The room you choose at room draw is the room in which you will live in the fall. No room changes will take place until after the third week of the fall semester.
If your roommate changes his/her plans and will not be returning to campus in the fall, another student will be assigned to the vacated space at the discretion of the Office of Community Living. We encourage you to confirm your future roommate's plans prior to choosing a room together.
Students that Require Medical or Special Accommodations
If you require a medical accommodation for next year, please be reminded that you must apply for medical accommodations annually. The form is located here:
If you believe that you have a medical need for a particular room assignment, you must complete the aforementioned medical documentation packet. This packet must be filled out by your health care practitioner. Depending on the nature of situation, documentation should be submitted to the Student Health and Counseling Services (for medical or psychiatric issues) or to Dr. Frona Brown (for documented learning differences). Staff in these offices will make a decision as to whether special housing accommodations should be offered. Medical assignments must be approved each year. Students will be notified of their medical accommodation on April 3, 2012.
Policy Statement:
All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and documentation of a special need or disability does not guarantee that your application will be approved. Assignments are made only if space is available. Assignment to a specific residence hall cannot be guaranteed. Learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, and most psychological disorders generally do not warrant special housing.
The deadline for this completed form to be received by the Health and Counseling Center is Friday March 30th, 2012. If you do not make this deadline, your application may be approved, but accommodations will be made on a space available basis and students may be placed on a waitlist.
Proxies and Study Abroad
If you are unable to attend room draw, your proxy should bring the proxy form to housing selection. The proxy's selection is final.
PROXIES FOR STUDENTS CURRENTLY ABROAD: If you are currently abroad and will return in the Fall, please complete the form linked below:
ONLINE PROXY FORM (THIS FORM IS ONLY FOR STUDENTS UNABLE TO ATTEND ROOM DRAW I.E. STUDENTS CURRENTLY ABROAD, WITH PRIOR COMMITMENTS, ETC)
IF YOU WILL BE ABROAD NEXT FALL: If you will be abroad during the fall semester, we will email you in November regarding your housing preferences. For students returning for the spring semester, assignment to a room will occur in January 2013 in order of class rank, and according to the available spaces at that time.
Students on LOA (Leave of Absence)
Students who are on a LOA and pay a deposit will be assigned housing after currently enrolled students have participated in room draw. If space is unavailable, students will be placed on a waitlist.
Moving On-Campus
Commuters and off-campus residents who wish to reside on campus next year should pay both their enrollment and room deposits. Paying a room deposit does not guarantee students a space in campus housing. This payment will only secure you a space on the wait list. Only current on-campus residents are permitted to select a room during room draw. However, student's currently commuting or living off-campus should contact the Office of Community Living to be placed on a wait list. These students will be assigned over the summer on a space-available basis (preference will be granted to those students commuting from their home addresses). If Community Living is unable to secure them a space, their room deposit will be refunded. If you would like to apply to move on campus (commuter students and students that have previously been approved off campus) you can apply using the link below:

ONLINE APPLICATION TO BE RELEASED FROM ON CAMPUS HOUSING
Students will not be notified of their status until after May 1, 2012. Students are cautioned not to sign a lease off-campus until after they have received permission from the Dean of Students to be released from their residential living requirement. Permission will be granted on a case by case basis after the May 1st deadline. If approved, you will be refunded your $100.00 housing deposit.
Gender Neutral Housing on Campus
Students that are interested in living in gender neutral housing on campus should note that the on campus program will be within Welsh and Gamble Halls. Students that draw into these rooms will be able to secure rooms with fellow students of any gender. Suites in Welsh Hall can be co-ed by room.
Gender neutral housing is defined as a housing option in-which two or more students may share a multiple-occupancy bedroom, in mutual agreement, regardless of the students' sex or gender. Gender neutral housing supports the College's non-discrimination policy and fully commits to the principles of social justice with respect to sexual orientation, sex, gender, and gender identity. Gender neutral housing provides housing options for students who may identify as transgender or are questioning their gender identity or do not wish to prescribe to gender classifications. Students who are uncomfortable with a same-sex roommate or do not wish to have a same-sex roommate also have more housing options from which to choose.
Gender neutral housing is not available for first-year students. Rooms are only gender neutral when students agree to live together, and the housing process for first-year students does not allow for the appropriate agreement.
