Housing Options:
Medical Accommodations- All requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and documentation of a special need or disability does not guarantee that your application will be approved. Assignments are made only if space is available. Assignment to a specific residence hall cannot be guaranteed. Complete the medical accommodation request form (available at www.goucher.edu/communityliving.com). Submit forms with supporting documentation to the Student Health and Counseling Center. Students need to re-apply each year and submit updated supporting documentation as necessary. The deadline for this to be received by the Health and Counseling Center is Monday, April 2, 2007. If you do not make this deadline, your application may be approved but a placement may not be available. In the case where demand exceeds availability, placements will be done on a first come first serve basis. A waitlist will be created to accommodate students over the course of the academic year.
Interested students need to apply for this housing type and must be good overall standing with the College. Info Sessions (in the “T” piano room)- Thursday, March 1 and Monday, March 5- 8:00pm. Applications are due, no later than 5:00pm, Friday, March 30, 2007. Students approved will be notified on or before Monday, April 9, 2007
Students who choose to live in this house agree to live a substance-free lifestyle in the house. The use and possession of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs by resident students and their guests is not permitted at any time in the house. A substance-free environment shall be defined as one where the following is prohibited: All use of cigarettes, cigars or burning tobacco in any form; Use and possession of alcohol, regardless of age; All drugs, which are already prohibited by state and/or Goucher College policy (i.e., use of marijuana, misuse and/or abuse of prescription drugs, etc.) These requirements apply to all common areas, as well as private rooms and include use by residents and guests. All residents of the Healthy Living House (Sondheim House) must indicate that they are non-smokers. This means that those individuals never smoke. Students who smoke occasionally or only outside are considered smokers and may not reside in substance-free housing. Residents who choose to live in the Healthy Living House (Sondheim House) sign this agreement to comply with the guidelines set by the Office of Community Living. It is the residents’ responsibility to support the terms of the agreement. Residents and guests who come to the community under the influence of drugs or alcohol may be denied access.
