The French, German, Latin American Studies, Russian, and Spanish Minors
Students minoring in French, German, Latin American Studies, Russian, or Spanish must accumulate a minimum of 18 credits at the 200 and 300 levels, with at least one course at the 300 level. Following is a specific list of courses for each minor:
French minors:
FR 230 and/or 235, FR 245, FR 256 and/or 258
And at least one 300-level course (from among FR 330, FR 333, FR 351)
German minors:
GER 234, GER 240, GER 250
Two 200-level and two 300-level courses offered at Loyola College and/or Johns Hopkins University. Students should consult the Loyola College and the Johns Hopkins University catalogues. Students may opt to spend the fall or spring semester at the Ebenhard Karls University in Tubingen, Germany.
Latin American Studies minors:
LAM 217 or 280, WS 224 or 226, HIS 296 or 298, SP 315, 324, or 345
Two additional 200-level courses to choose from
MGT 231, PCE 251, RLG 274, PSC 250, PSC 257
Or other applicable courses offered through the cooperative inter-institutional programs, or through an approved study-abroad program. Permission of the Latin American Studies coordinator is required.
Russian minors
RUS 231 or RUS 248, RUS 251, WL (253 or 259 or other)
Spanish minors:
SP 230, SP 294, SP 235, SP 254, SP 315, 324, 332, or 345
Another 200-level course except SP 229
THE LANGUAGE-THROUGH-LINKAGE OPTION
Students should also be aware of the opportunities for perfecting their language skills while pursuing courses based in other departments. In these courses, students enroll simultaneously in a one-credit language course and in the three credit course to which it is attached. In addition to the class meetings and requirements of the three-credit course, students have special meetings with the language section to discuss films, readings, and presentations in the target language.
