Amnesty International

Amnesty International is a worldwide human rights movement that seeks the release of all prisoners of conscience (men, women, and children imprisoned because of their beliefs, ethnic origin, sex, race, or language, provided they have neither used nor advocated violence). Amnesty International advocates fair and prompt trials for all political prisoners and opposes torture and executions or other cruel, inhumane, or degrading punishment of all prisoners. It is independent of any political, ideological, or religious affiliations and is funded by donations from its members and supporters around the world. Amnesty International holds speakers, concerts, teach-ins, protests, and videos to raise awareness of international issues, such as the abolition of torture. We also attend numerous conferences, table at local and campus events, and attend protests in accordance with international human rights.
