Interlibrary Loan Service Research Assistance International ILL Requests
 


  • ILL Procedures

    The Julia Rogers Library (JRL) will send distance learning students in the United States books from the collection or fill interlibrary loan requests. Regional students are expected to borrow from JRL in person. Regional students are those living in the following areas: Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Harford County, Carroll County, Howard County, Anne Arundel County north of Rt. 50, Montgomery County east of I-270, Frederick County east of Rt. 15 in Maryland and York and Lancaster Counties in Pennsylvania.

    Print Material owned by the Julia Rogers Library

    • Email Interim Distance Learning Librarian, Jim Huff the information on the material you would like to borrow, your campus id number and the address to which the material should be sent.

    • If the material is available it will be checked out and mailed to you.  If the material is not currently available you will be notified.

    • The due date will be listed inside the back cover. You may renew books online through the online catalog.

    • When returning material please address to the attention of Interim Distance Learning Librarian, Jim Huff.  You are responsible for the return postage.

    Material not owned by the Julia Rogers Library

    • *Make sure the library has your current email address in the system.*

    • Submit an interlibrary loan request through WorldCat or the request form on the library's web site.

    • When you receive email notification that your material is available for pick up at the library’s circulation desk, forward the email to Jim Huff , Interim Distance Learning Librarian, with the address to which you’d like the material sent.  If you do not receive an email notification 2 weeks after your request email Jim and ask him to check on the request.

    • The material will be mailed to you.  The due date will be listed on a colored sheet of paper attached to the front cover.  If you need a renewal, contact Diane BEFORE the due date to request one.  Renewals cannot be requested after the due date.

    • When returning material please address to the attention of Interlibrary Loan or Diane Fuller.  You are responsible for the return postage.

  • The Julia Rogers Library is not able to loan JRL materials or provide interlibrary loan to other countries (including Canada) due to the costs and uncertainty of delivery services, which make it impossible to rely on timely delivery and return.

    The following services are available for students in other countries, at the discretion of the librarian.

    • Fax or mail a limited number of photocopied pages, within copyright provisions, such as the table of contents or specific pages of interest.
    • Email the WorldCat record to show holdings that may be within convenient travel distance.
    • In selected cases, scan and email some pages.

    Notes to international students:

    • The JRL subscribes to a number of electronic books, which are available through the web catalog
    • Access to full-text electronic journals is available through the library’s web site Journals List . Print journals (also included in this list) are included in the fax/mail service listed above.
    • Fee based services (e.g. Ingenta Connect) are available that may be able to fill your requests.
