Wallops Island Field Trip
During October 19-21, students in Prof. Cynthia Kicklighter’s Field Ecology Laboratory class took a field trip to Wallops Island, VA where they stayed at the Wallops Island Marine Science Consortium. Students enthusiastically identified and investigated the plants, animals, and seaweeds found in salt marsh and mudflat habitats. During a break from all their hard work, the group went for a hike on Assateague Island, where they saw wild ponies. [full story]

Lindsey Hendricks Wins Goldwater Scholarship
Goucher College junior Lindsey Hendricks recently won the prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, an undergraduate award meant to encourage outstanding students to pursue careers in mathematics, the natural sciences, and engineering. [full story]

Bio Blast Picnic
The annual Bio Blast picnic will be held in back of the Hoffberger Science building from 5-8 PM on Friday, May 11. Come join the Bio faculty, staff, students and many alums who return to make this one of the highlights of the academic year. The picnic will be preceded by biology senior independent research seminars from 3-5 PM in Kelley Lecture Hall. Plant Physiology Students Visit Longwood Gardens
On April 28, students in Prof. Bob Slocum's Plant Physiology class traveled to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA to further their study of plant biology in a world-class setting. From the "unsavory female ginkgo" tree to carnivorous plant exhibits and the blazing colors of tulip beds, the groups enjoyed a wonderful spring day with memories to last a lifetime. [full story]
