We wanted to let you know that your Goucher e-mail address will continue to be active after graduation. Goucher will provide a permanent e-mail forwarding capability for graduates beginning with the class of 2005. E-mail sent to your Goucher e-mail address will be automatically forwarded to an e-mail address of your choosing. This means that you can provide your Goucher e-mail address to potential employers and graduate schools. You will be able to continue to correspond with other graduates after the diploma is in your hand and you will be able to provide an e-mail address to people that will never change even if your actual e-mail account changes.
E-mail Forwarding
By July 15, you will need to provide a forwarding address for your Goucher e-mail account by visiting the Goucher e-mail forwarding website.
For example, you will need to set the forwarding address of jbach@goucher.edu to another e-mail account (e.g., bachmusic@hotmail.com. After the e-mail forwarding is set, e-mail sent to jbach@goucher.edu will automatically be forwarded to bachmusic@hotmail.com. In the future, if your actual e-mail account changes, you can simply change the e-mail forwarding address to point to your new account (e.g., sonatas@yahoo.com.
NOTE:
Your E-mail Account
Unfortunately because of limited resources, all of the e-mail messages in your Goucher e-mail account will NOT be accessible to you after July 15 (approximately 60 days after graduation).
If you want to save the e-mail in your Goucher e-mail account, you will need to print it out, save it to a CD-ROM, or forward the existing e-mail to another account.
One technique for saving your e-mail messages is to add the Personal Folders service to your account to create an individual E-mail storage file. You can then save the E-mail storage file to your computer or other rewritable media (e.g., CD-ROM). The Personal Folders service creates a *.pst file that you can use with any Outlook version including Outlook Express or the file can be imported by most E-mail client software. Directions are provided on the Setting up a Personal Folder web page on the Information Technology web site. Please contact the Help Desk if you need assistance.
Your Darwin and Meyerhoff Files and Documents
On July 15, you will no longer have access to your files and documents in your Darwin personal network folder or your Meyerhoff web page folder. However, you can copy your files and documents to a CD, flash drive, external hard drive or iPod. If you need assistance in making copies of these files, please contact the Help Desk.
