Did You Know?

Service-Learning is going to change its name to the Center for Community Research and Action (CCRA). Our mission is to advance academic based community projects, including research that are responsive to community needs and interests, and add value to faculty course objectives.

Goucher service-learning is a founding member of the Old Goucher Neighborhood Collaborative (OGNC, or co-lab) at 2526 North Charles Street. Our co-lab partner organizations are: Megaphone Project, Wide Angle Community Media, and Community Law in Action (CLIA). The co-lab mission is to amplify marginalized and excluded community voices. We will be recruiting additional organizations into the space as members and associate members. Co-lab members share a commitment to social change and advocacy.

Co-lab offers: class/seminar space; computer lab, potential office and storage space, free parking, contact with cutting edge media and after school leadership/ advocacy programs, internship opportunities, and easy access to about 70 non-profit organizations and over 250 businesses. For example, the co-lab is right across the street from the center for Poverty Solutions, The Afro, The Baltimore Times, around the corner from the NAACP, and a block from the Village Learning Place and Margaret Brent Elementary School.
