Goucher College is celebrating Women’s History Month with the following series of events, activities, and lectures:

Feminist Zines
Wednesday, March 3, throughout the afternoon
Geen Community Center

Members of the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance will discuss the emergence of female voices through feminist zines (small circulation publications). Try your hands at making a publication!

 

R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) Demo
Wednesday, March 3

Goucher instructors will demonstrate principles of Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.), a women’s self-defense and empowerment course that is taught on campus, and talk about general safety tips for college-aged women. Jewish Women’s Spirituality

Join Rabbi Josh Snyder for this text study and luncheon discussion examining Jewish women’s spiritual journeys throughout the ages. The Challenges of Collecting Women’s History

Manicures for a Cure and Women’s Health Expo

This exhibit features art inspired by the Pattern and Decoration Movement of the ’70s. Influenced greatly by the feminist art movement, these types of artworks have been consistently gendered “female” throughout history. Sponsored by the Silber Art Gallery.

“Autumn Gem”
Tuesday, March 30, 7 p.m.
 Kelley Lecture Hall

Watch a screening of the documentary “Autumn Gem,” the story of China’s first women’s rights activist. Afterwards, join the directors, Rae Chang and Adam Tow, for a question-and-answer session. Sponsored by the Philosophy and Religion Department.

Library Exhibits the Work of Florence Seibert ’18 and the Woman’s College of Baltimore
Throughout March
Library Stacks, Level 4

The library will feature displays about Florence Seibert ’18, a pioneer in tuberculosis research, and about the Woman’s College of Baltimore (which became Goucher College). Sponsored by the Goucher College Library.
