It doesn't matter if you've been here for a few years (woo-hoo, Class of 2011!) or a few weeks - you've seen how exuberant Goucher is, and how engaged the students can be. All of that liveliness is due to the time, energy, and creativity that you - students - give to the college. Working on the community garden. Proposing an initiative for the Innovation Grants. Creating a new student club. Applying your knowledge through an internship or service in the community. Serving on the Orientation Committee, in student government, or as a community assistant. Venturing out into the world, learning and sharing cultural understanding. What you give to Goucher brings this place to life!
That's why we're thrilled to reintroduce a way for students to help build a greater Goucher: the Gophers for Goucher Campaign, a program focused on philanthropic education and support for the college. Over the course of the academic year, we will be hosting a series of events designed to bring students, faculty, and staff together; to introduce people to the campaign; and most importantly, to have a good time. Best of all, the proceeds from these events will go to the Greater Goucher Fund.
The Greater Goucher Fund (also known as the Annual Fund) supports necessities not covered in full by tuition. It helps finance scholarships, faculty salaries, and visiting scholars. It helps us improve our buildings and grounds. It keeps tuition costs down, puts programs in full swing, and provides aid for study abroad. Basically, it's what makes day-to-day life here possible.
Our goal this year is to get the whole campus community participating in the Greater Goucher Fund. Each new donor increases our participation rate, showing the world we care about our college - and that it is worthy of support from others. Participating in the Greater Goucher Fund also helps ensure that Goucher will continue to thrive, adding to the college's resources and enhancing the value of a Goucher degree. Giving to Goucher is a win-win.
