Norway: University of Oslo

Type of Program: Semester
City: Oslo
When offered: Fall or spring

Application Deadline for Spring 2012: September 1, 2011 (ATTENTION:  This deadline is earlier than other Goucher Program spring deadlines.  If you are interested in this program for Spring 2012, please be in touch with Carol Donhauser over the 2011 summer.)

The Oslo program offers the opportunity to enroll at the University of Oslo in a wide range of courses taught in English. You may stay for one semester or a full year and choose from a broad range of courses in the areas of Scandinavian Studies, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Medicine, Theology, Education, Law and Graduate Studies. Students have the option of taking the 30-hour Beginners Course in Norwegian in addition to their normal study program (included in the USAC program fees). Although most people in Norway speak English, we strongly recommend you take this optional course, as it will help you to assimilate better into Norwegian life, and you will find that Norwegians appreciate your effort to speak their language.

Students begin their stay in Oslo with an on-site orientation to the university, region and country in addition to field trips and social activities. At the conclusion of this program, students begin their regular coursework.

There is a $2,500 tuition discount for this program.

Eligibility and Prerequisites:

Students must have declared a major and taken prerequisite courses.  Students must have completed three semesters in college-level residence and should have junior standing.  Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply.
