The Students Are Coming! The Students Are Coming!
As we all prepare for the return of students to campus, here are a few important dates/points to remember, courtesy of the Office of Student Engagement:
| August 20-24 |
Early-arrival students come to campus, including fall athletes, dancers, several student leaders, and participants in early-immersion programs. |
| Thursday, August 27 |
All new students and their families arrive on campus. |
| Sunday, August 30 |
All returning students arrive on campus. |
- Beginning next Thursday, August 27, the Loop Road will become a one-way route, flowing clockwise around the campus. It will remain this way through Sunday, August 30. This arrangement makes it easier for students and parents to unload their cars. Please drive slowly and carefully, as there will be a great deal of activity on campus during that time.
- The peak days for student move-ins will be Thursday, August 27 and Sunday, August 30. On those days, eight unloading tents will be set up around campus.
- Early-arrival students are reporting to Heubeck Hall to meet their sponsors and pick up residence hall keys and One Cards.
- On August 27 and 30, the first stop for all new and returning students is the Dorsey Center, where they will check in, receive important information, and pick up their room keys and One Cards.
- Once students have completed the check-in process at Dorsey, they return to their cars and drive to one of the eight clearly marked unloading tents in front of the residence halls. Goucher staff, faculty, and students will help the newcomers unload their cars. If you haven’t yet signed up to lend a helping hand, email Michael.herdson@goucher.edu.
- FYI – It’s important that ALL students complete the check-in process on August 27 (for new students) or August 30 (for returning students). Even students who arrived early for an approved program are being asked to return to Dorsey on August 27 or 30 to complete the rest of the check-in process.
Thanks to all members of the Goucher community for your assistance in directing our students to the appropriate places during this move-in period.
