On-Campus Residency Requirements
The on-campus residency is a time for students to come together and study with faculty in person. Students engage in seminars, field experiences, and friendly gatherings. The residencies are one important way that we build a life-long network of alumnae/i committed to the importance of sustaining culture and communities.
Students accepted into the program will be required to attend two one-week on-campus residencies each year. During the first residency, new students will meet with the academic director to create an individual course of study - their guide to completing the program. The plan will subsequently be reviewed once a year to assess goals and progress. New students will also attend on-campus portions of required courses such as Cultural Sustainability and electives. These residency courses will be completed online over the next four weeks.
This is an opportunity for faculty and students to participate together in field experiences in urban locales such as Baltimore, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia as well as in rural sites such as the Eastern Shore of Maryland. Hands-on exploration and documentation of communities is made possible during these residencies.
