Counseling services provided on campus are free, confidential, and do not require a referral.
Initial Assessment of Needs and Goals
In your first visit, your counselor will help you address immediate problems and develop a treatment plan. You and your counselor will collaboratively determine what further sources of help will be most useful, whether they are available through Health & Counseling Services or in the community. Brief Individual Counseling
Brief individual counseling typically ranges from 1-12 sessions. The goal of brief psychotherapy is to increase self-awareness, resolve problems, and learn adaptive coping skills that may be used in the future.

Couples Counseling
Couples counseling can provide a safe atmosphere for couples to examine and improve their relationship.
Group Counseling
Group counseling may be offered throughout the academic year on various topics. The group milieu provides an opportunity to share experiences, obtain peer support, and gain/practice new skills.
Outreach and Consultation
The counseling staff is available to consult with students, faculty and staff on a variety of issues related to their roles in helping and working with other members of the Goucher College community.
