As the semester draws to a close, you are likely to be facing exams in many of your classes. Some degree of nervousness before an exam is normal. However, too much anxiety can actually be problematic when preparing for and taking tests. There are many great tips and ideas on dealing with test anxiety. Though grief is a normal and natural response, you may react with great sadness, anger, confusion, nervousness, numbness, jitteriness or combinations of these. Although we all experience grief and loss at some point in our lives, it is important to move toward recovery. If you are grieving the loss of a friend or loved one and need help resuming your regular activities, we encourage you to call Student Health and Counseling at 410-337-6481 to speak to a counselor. While it’s important to take time to grieve, remember to stay connected with those who are important to you and invest your time, attention and energy in everyday activities.

The recent outbreak of Mumps in the Midwest has caused some concern among college age students and parents. There have been no confirmed cases of Mumps reported in Maryland, as of 4/26/06. The CDC website, www.cdc.gov, provides information regarding Mumps, updates on the current outbreak status, and prevention.
