EOP: What's Ahead of You

Goucher is a selective, rigorous, liberal arts college. We will expect a lot from you—but we will also provide support every step along the way. Here is a summary of the responsibilities we expect you to undertake and when you should be aware of them:

During your Senior Year of High School

Prior to Fall Semester (after enrollment)

  • Complete placement exams online prior to summer orientation dates, as indicated in your admissions packet
  • Attend a summer orientation to schedule classes and meet your academic advisor and the Associate Dean of Multicultural Student Services
  • Attend EOP orientation, which may be a meeting at the conclusion of one of the scheduled orientation dates.
  • Attend the summer bridge program in July.
  • Purchase books with the $750 stipend provided at the completion
of the summer program (strongly encouraged).

During Academic Year

  • Academics must be your first priority. Seek help to stay on top of your work, not just when you have problems. Staff at the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE), the Assistant Dean of Multicultural Student Services, EOP mentors, professors, and many others on campus are all available to help you.
  • Maintain scheduled appointments with and respond promptly to any communication from the Associate Dean of Multicultural Student Services and the Vice President and Dean of Students. Appointments are mandatory and will take place at regularly scheduled intervals.
  • Attend and actively participate in all EOP events, which may include retreats, group meetings or workshops, and campus events or lectures
  • Uphold Goucher’s Community Principles

Every Year

  • Complete the FAFSA and provide verification documents as necessary by the filing deadline. This enables state grant money to still be awarded on your behalf.
  • Work to remain in good academic standing at the college.
