Recent Seniors: What Happens to Your Account?

Release date: June 18, 2009 |

Congratulations on your recent successes at Goucher. In order to make the transition to the next stage of your life as smooth as possible, Information Technology asks that you complete two small steps to access your email and stored documents after graduation.

Step One: Darwin and Meyerhoff Files and Documents

If you didn't copy any files or documents from your Darwin personal network folder or your Meyerhoff web page folder to a CD, flash drive, external hard drive or iPod before graduation then you will need to do it remotely.  Please visit http://www.goucher.edu/x2952.xml to download instructions on how to setup a Virtual Private Network connection. This will allow you to connect to the Goucher network.  Once connected, follow instructions on how you can access your files.  This must be done before July 15, 2009.  After that time, all of your files on Darwin and Meyerhoff will be deleted on July 15, 2009.

Step Two: E-mail

If you are currently forwarding your email, after July 15, 2009, you will need to log into http://mail.goucher.eduand re-establish your forwarding address from within the Settings. We will not be able to setup your forwarding for you. Email forwarding is completely optional and is a personal preference.

Your Goucher e-mail address will continue to be active after graduation.  Goucher will continue to provide permanent e-mail delivery for graduates.  E-mail sent to your Goucher e-mail address will be automatically forwarded to a Gmail at Goucher (@mail.goucher.edu) email address.  You will be able to continue to correspond with other graduates after the diploma is in your hand and you will be able to provide an e-mail address to people that will never change.

On July 15, 2009, Information Technology will migrate all of your existing mail to a Gmail style email account. This account will not be deleted and can be accessed anytime after July 15. Once the migration is complete, all of your email will be accessible from http://mail.goucher.edu. When you log into this account, your email address will appear as username@mail.goucher.edu, which is a valid email address, however, all mail sent to your current email address and firstname.lastname@mail.goucher.eduwill be delivered to your new mailbox.
