Goucher Chamber Symphony Spring Concert

Release date: April 29, 2009 |

Greg Peacock

The Goucher Chamber Symphony, under the direction of Assistant Professor of Music Elisa Koehler, will present its spring concert on Wednesday, April 29, at 8 p.m. in the college’s Kraushaar Auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Goucher Music Department at 410-337-6276.

The program features three graduating seniors in prominent roles. Flutist Greg Peacock will perform Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G Major, and the orchestra will present the world premières of works by two Goucher student composers: Homecoming by Dominic d’Eustachio and Faultlines by Travis Jolly.

Felix Mendelssohn’s stormy Scottish tone poem, The Hebrides, and Joseph Haydn’s inventive Military Symphony (No. 100) round out the program. Both composers are celebrating bicentennial anniversaries this year: Mendelssohn was born in 1809 and Haydn died that same year.
