Goucher College is raising awareness of gay/lesbian/bisexual/transgender issues with a month-long series of programs. Everyone is welcome to attend any of these events, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
Friday, April 10
Screening of Milk
Milk is the biographical film of Harvey Milk, an activist and politician who became the first openly gay man to be voted into major public office in the United States.

Friday, April 17
The National Day of Silence
The National Day of Silence brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying, and harassment in schools. Participants take a daylong vow of silence and distribute or wear speaking cards with information about anti-LGBT bias and ways for students and others to end the silence.
8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pick up stickers 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Pearlstone Atrium; silent lunch at noon in Heubeck Dining Hall.

Drag Ball at the Maryland Institute College of Art
Join PRISM and MICA’s Queer Alliance for their second annual cooperative drag ball. This year’s theme is “glam rock.” Come dressed in drag and have a ball!
9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.; in MICA’s Gateway building, 1601 Mt. Royal Ave. Take the Collegetown shuttle from Welsh Hall; the last bus returning to Goucher leaves MICA at 12:22 a.m.
Cost is $1 for attendants in drag and $3 for those not in drag.

Goucher’s Second Annual Rainbow Reception
The reception honors all LGBT and ally graduates from the class of 2009. Students interested in participating should contact Candace Doane at candace.doane@goucher.edu by Friday, April 17. PRISM will also present its annual awards to honor students, faculty, and staff who have contributed to the LGBT and ally community.

The Second Annual Coming Out Monologues
The Coming Out Monologues is a community-based theater project celebrating the diversity of experience and identity of Goucher’s LGBT and ally community. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to submit monologues to be read at the event. Submissions must be made by 5 p.m. on Friday, April 10, to Candace Doane at candace.doane@goucher.edu or Duncan Gray duncan.gray@goucher.edu. Monologues can be kept anonymous.
